In the wake of Typhoon Tino, which brought days of heavy rain and flooding across parts of the Visayas and Mindanao, Aboitiz Foundation, together with Aboitiz business units under the OneAboitiz initiative, has mobilized a large-scale relief and recovery response for affected families in Cebu and neighboring provinces.
The initiative builds on the Foundation’s continuing aid for communities still rebuilding from the magnitude 6.9 earthquake that struck Cebu last September.
Coordinated Response
Working closely with local government units and Aboitiz companies—including Aboitiz InfraCapital Water, Visayan Electric, AboitizPower Transition Business Group, Aboitiz Renewables Inc., Aboitiz Land, Aboitiz Economic Estates (Cebu), Aboitiz Foods, and Coca-Cola Europacific Aboitiz—the Foundation has distributed more than 7,200 food and non-food packs and 158,000 liters of safe drinking water.
To date, total assistance valued at over ₱3 million has reached 12,500 families across Cebu, Bohol, Negros Occidental, Iloilo, and the Dinagat Islands.
Relief deliveries began on November 5, with ongoing operations in Cebu City, Mandaue, Liloan, Toledo, Talisay, Balamban, and nearby municipalities. Aboitiz InfraCapital Water provided potable water through mobile tankers, while AboitizPower utilities—Visayan Electric, Davao Light, and Cotabato Light—continue to restore electricity in heavily affected zones.
Sustained Commitment To Recovery
“Our collective action shows what OneAboitiz is all about—standing together for our people and our communities,” said Sabin Aboitiz, Chairman of Aboitiz Foundation. Through shared resources and collaboration, the foundation believes that it can respond faster and help families recover stronger.
“These floods remind us that while we can’t control nature, we can control how we respond — with compassion, courage, and care,” Aboitiz added. “Let’s look out for one another, not just today but through the recovery that follows.”
Sustainability is one of Aboitiz Foundation’s core thrusts, which is why its relief efforts are geared towards long-term recovery and resilience. Aboitiz Foundation President Ginggay Hontiveros-Malvar said that they are coordinating with LGUs to support rehabilitation projects that will help communities rebuild sustainably.
“This is part of our long-term commitment to help communities not only recover but also become more resilient,” Hontiveros-Malvar said. “Our recent earthquake response and now the typhoon efforts show that we stand by our partners through every crisis — together as OneAboitiz.”
Strengthening Communities
The Foundation said it remains focused on helping communities rebuild sustainably through continued livelihood, infrastructure, and resilience-building programs.
As weather disturbances grow increasingly frequent and intense, the OneAboitiz Group intends to further strengthen its disaster response capabilities and long-term resilience programs. These efforts reflect the Aboitiz Group’s broader purpose of advancing business and communities to thrive together, guided by its promise of sustainability and compassion in action.
