Belmont Group, the operator of Anjo World Theme Park in Cebu, has partnered with Lopez-led First Gen Corporation to transition to renewable energy. Under the agreement, First Gen will supply clean power to the theme park, aligning with Belmont’s commitment to long-term sustainability.
Anjo World Theme Park, the largest family entertainment complex in the Visayas and Mindanao, will be powered by 750 kilowatts of geothermal energy from First Gen. The park is located within the 3.5-hectare Belmont One complex in Minglanilla, Cebu, which also features retail and dining spaces.

Expanding sustainability across business areas
“Theme parks consume a significant amount of power, not to mention the environmental impact of their operations,” acknowledged Arlene Sy, head of Power Sales and Marketing at First Gen. “Through our partnership with Belmont One, we are helping the Anjo World Theme Park shift to cleaner electricity.”
Belmont Group aims to enhance eco-friendly practices across its varied ventures, including entertainment, hospitality, shopping, and property development.
Chester Lim, president of Anjo World and Belmont One, emphasized that sustainability is an essential component of their business strategy. “We are committed to innovation and sustainability. Since 2016, we have been actively pursuing renewable energy initiatives to optimize costs and reduce our environmental impact,” he added.
Belmont One has incorporated solar panels into its power system to help lower its environmental impact. Additionally, Lim, a former president of the Philippine Retail Association-Cebu, advocated for eco-friendly practices in retail, including promoting reusable bags for shoppers.
“By transitioning to renewable energy, we are not only optimizing our energy costs but also making significant strides toward achieving our sustainability goals and minimizing our environmental impact,” he said.

Business wins
First Gen, in partnership with Pi Energy Inc., will enhance Belmont One’s energy management by installing a remote monitoring system. This technology will allow real-time tracking of electricity usage across Anjo World Theme Park and its retail spaces.
Lim stated that the total energy usage of the complex averaged 643 kilowatts.
Chloe Kayanan, First Gen’s senior marketing manager, noted that Belmont One’s transition to renewables will lower costs, enhance efficiency, and decrease dependence on fossil fuels. “With this partnership, we share the belief that clean energy is the way forward—not just because it is a sustainable choice, but also because it is a smart business decision,” she said.
Aside from Belmont One, First Gen supplies renewable power to multiple establishments in Cebu, including Precision Crestec Inc., an industrial printing company. The Lopez-led firm currently provides nearly 100 megawatts of clean energy to businesses across the province.
First Gen runs 28 power facilities, generating a total of 1,651 megawatts from renewable sources like solar, wind, hydro, and geothermal. It also oversees 2,017 megawatts from natural gas plants, providing a transitional energy source for the country’s shift to cleaner power.
