Empowering Partner Organizations: NegOcc Donates RE Systems

The provincial government of Negros Occidental provided solar panels and water pumps to three partner organizations in support of the SecuRE Negros campaign promoting renewable energy usage. Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson expressed his confidence in the recipients’ ability to deploy the renewable energy power systems in their respective areas of responsibility.

Beneficiary Organizations

Lacson focused on choosing partners to represent ordinary people, often leaving out traditional development efforts. The beneficiaries of this approach included the GAID Mambugsay Integrated Social Forestry Project Minority Association, Negros Economic Development Foundation (NEDF), and the University of St. La Salle Training Farm in Barangay Granada, Bacolod City. Each of these organizations received customized sets of solar panels and pumps.

Furthermore, Lacson witnessed the turnover of an RE system donated to Ara-al Elementary School Nailab Extension by Negros Island Solar Power, Inc. through the Department of Education Schools Division of La Carlota City. This event underscores the government’s recognition of the recipients’ role in advancing Reliable, Renewable, Available, Accessible, Affordable, and Sustainable Energy for Occidental Negros by 2030.

Impact and Future Expectations

Lacson, with former governor Rafael Coscolluela, hopes that the savings from these RE power systems will be used for initiatives benefiting the communities they serve.

“It is my hope that with the savings you achieve from the use of these RE power systems, you will be able to channel the funds to more productive uses directly benefiting the people that you serve,” he added.
